Gandhinagar: Union home minister Amit Shah has cancelled his programme scheduled at Gandhinagar’s Town Hall on Sep 4 for Iskcon to go ahead with Janmashtami celebrations at the same venue, the religious organisation said on Thursday.Thanking Shah, Iskcon said Shah’s gesture has touched thousands of devotees who are expected at the venue for the day-long programme.“His decision to give priority to Janmashtami celebrations at Town Hall, Gandhinagar, reflects a profound sensitivity towards the sentiments of thousands of devotees who will gather to celebrate the appearance of Sri Krishna,” said Yudhistir Govinda Das, country director of communications, and national spokesperson, Iskcon. Such gestures strengthen faith in the spirit of service, respect and inclusivity that lies at the heart of Indian society, he said.
