Amritsar: A jatha from Bengaluru, comprising Sikligar and Vanjara Sikh devotees, arrived at the Golden Temple on Wednesday as part of a special outreach initiative supported by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.The group, led by Jarnail Singh and organised by Gurdwara Singh Sabha Bengaluru in collaboration with the Karnataka Sikh Welfare Society, was received by SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami.The visit is part of SGPC’s ongoing efforts to reconnect Sikligar and Vanjara Sikhs with their religious heritage. In addition to facilitating visits to prominent gurdwaras, the committee has been supporting the education of children from these communities by covering their school fees.Speaking on the occasion, Dhami said Sikligar and Vanjara Sikhs are an integral part of the Sikh community and reaffirmed SGPC’s commitment to their welfare. He added that around 100 devotees are currently visiting various gurdwaras across Punjab under the initiative.Jarnail Singh thanked the SGPC for the arrangements and hospitality, describing the initiative as a meaningful step towards strengthening community ties. Several SGPC members and officials were present.
