Acting on a tip-off after a prolonged chase, the police set up a trap using a decoy customer. The couple supplied two women, aged 24 and 26, to the ‘customer’, charging around 2,000 per encounter.Tauseef, who worked in a butcher’s shop, earlier met Joya (originally from Mumbai) through a friend. Joya later left her husband and moved in with Tauseef, relocating to Nagpur. She connected with an intermediary named Komal, who supplied young girls and women to the couple for trafficking. The duo then arranged clients and sent the women to various destinations. Komal, now on the run, is a repeat offender. The two rescued women were medically examined and shifted to a govt shelter home for safety and rehabilitation. An FIR under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and other anti-trafficking laws was registered at Pachpaoli police station.
