Ahmedabad: A 34-year-old woman has lodged a complaint with Gujarat University police, alleging that she was assaulted by her husband and another woman during a confrontation linked to an alleged extramarital affair. According to the FIR, the complainant has been living separately for the past two months in a paying guest accommodation in Ambawadi following prolonged marital discord. Her marriage was solemnized in 2011, and the couple has two sons, aged 13 and five, who are currently staying with family members in Vejalpur. She has also initiated divorce proceedings in a family court. The woman stated that her husband had reportedly been in a relationship with another woman for several years, which led to frequent arguments and eventually her decision to move out. Despite the separation, disputes between the parties allegedly continued. On Saturday around 10.15am, the husband allegedly arrived at her PG accommodation along with the woman he is said to be involved with and called her outside. The duo reportedly confronted her over her refusal to return home, triggering a verbal altercation. When she declined to engage, both allegedly began abusing her verbally. Police said the husband then allegedly assaulted the woman, slapping her several times, including near her ear, while the other woman continued to hurl abuses. Hearing her cries for help, a friend intervened and immediately alerted the police control room. Sensing that the situation was escalating, the two accused allegedly fled the spot, threatening her with serious consequences if she interfered in their relationship again. The complainant later approached the police and was referred for a medical examination. A case of assault and criminal intimidation has been registered, and investigation is underway.Info boxHeadline: Extramarital affair?Couple has two minor sons living separately Husband allegedly arrived with partner, abused and physically attacked womanFriend intervened, alerted police control room as situation escalatedPolice registered assault, intimidation case; investigation underway after medical examination
