Coimbatore: A senior police officer was remanded in judicial custody on Saturday for sexually harassing a woman police officer at his camp.An official source identified the arrested officer as T Senthil Kumar, commandant, IVth battalion of Tamil Nadu Special Police, Kovaipudur. He said the incident occurred at the office of Senthil Kumar in the second half of Feb this year. “The woman police officer reported the incident to higher officials the same day. A departmental inquiry found that her charges against Senthil Kumar were true. Following this, additional chief secretary Dheeraj Kumar placed Senthil Kumar under suspension under Rule 17(e) of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1955.” Based on the victim’s complaint, the Coimbatore South all-woman police registered a case and began an investigation, which confirmed that Senthil Kumar had sexually harassed the woman police officer. He was then arrested and produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody on Saturday. Senthil Kumar was subsequently lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison.
