Nagpur: Cyber fraudsters allegedly cheated a 60-year-old retired officer of Rs 11 lakh after luring him with promises of share market investments. Nagpur cyber police have registered a case of cheating under Information Technology Act against two accused, Vinay Jhariya and Deepak Kumar.Police said the complainant, a Madhya Pradesh-based company’s retired officer who lives under Sitabuldi police station limits, came across a trading investment advertisement on Facebook on Aug 28. The advertisement carried photographs of several industrialists, which led him to show interest in investing.Investigators said the two accused then contacted the senior citizen and persuaded him to invest money in the stock market over a period of time. The man subsequently transferred a total of Rs 11 lakh, police said.However, he neither received any profits nor got back his principal amount. After realising he had been duped, he approached cyber police and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, cyber police registered an offence and have begun an investigation, officials said.
