T’puram: A 45-year-old man from Pathanamthitta died after falling into the sea while attempting to take a selfie from a rock along the Azhimala coast on Sunday evening.The deceased was identified as Aneesh, of Edayaranmula Panchavadi. The incident occurred around 5.30pm, according to police. Aneesh was part of a 17-member family group from Pathanamthitta and Mannar, who were on a pilgrimage trip. The group had set out from Edayaranmula on April 10 and reached Thiruvananthapuram via Kanyakumari on Sunday morning. After offering prayers at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the group reached Azhimala around 2.30pm. Relatives said Aneesh was standing on the beach and climbed onto a rock to take a selfie when he lost his balance and fell into the sea. His body was later recovered and shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital mortuary. It will be handed over to relatives after the postmortem examination.
