Chandigarh: Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal has written to Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, urging the state govt to intensify search for Hyderabad resident Anil Marla, who has been missing since a road accident in Lahaul & Spiti district on July 19.In the letter, Seechewal has requested Sukhu to order a special search operation involving the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other agencies.

“Marla‘s family is in a state of mental distress caused by the prolonged uncertainty, and they have approached me, seeking intervention,“ states the letter.Seechewal also urged the govt to intensify search efforts in Bhaga, Chenab and other possible locations, saying the family should receive a definite outcome at the earliest. Seechewal expressed confidence that Himachal Pradesh govt would extend all possible assistance to the family.The 42-year-old man went missing after falling off a cliff on Darcha–Shinku La road on July 19. While his motorcycle, mobile phone, helmet and other belongings have been recovered, he remains untraceable despite several days of search operations.Search and rescue experts believe that Marla may have been swept away by the fast-flowing mountain stream into Bhaga river, with the current potentially carrying him further downstream towards Tandi, where Bhaga and Chandra rivers meet to form the Chenab.
