Patna: A security guard, Aditya Kumar alias Chhotu (35), working in a private company, was fatally shot by three motorcycle-borne assailants in Dulhinbazaar police station area of Patna district on Monday morning. The incident took place at Sadahva village around 10am when Aditya had a heated argument with some local people over a land dispute. The assailants allegedly shot Aditya in the head and chest and fled from the spot on foot. Hearing the gunshots, his family and local people rushed to the spot and took him to a private hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the village.Following the incident, City SP (West), Bhanu Pratap Singh, rushed to Sadahva village and started an investigation. “A pistol and a live cartridge have been recovered from the spot. All accused have been identified, and raids are being conducted to arrest them. The police have also seized their motorcycle,” he said.Body was sent to a govt hospital for postmortem, the SP said, adding that according to the family, Aditya was basically a farmer; he also worked as security guard in a private company.“As per the initial investigation, the incident stemmed from a land dispute between two parties. One party was in possession of land and the other was opposing it and demanding compensation. This disagreement led to the shooting by one party. A team, including SDPO Paliganj and SHO Dulhinbazaar, along with a technical team, has been formed to arrest the criminals, and raids are underway. An FSL team has been called to gather evidence and witnesses’ statements are being recorded. The family has filed an FIR,” Singh said.The deceased’s father, Vijay Singh, said there was a dispute over 10 kattha of land. He accused one Nitish Kumar and his aides from the same village of murder. According to Vijay, Aditya returned home from Patna on Sunday. “In the morning, Nitish came with his associates and started beating up my son over the land dispute. After this, he shot him in the head,” he told the police.
