Gaya: A joint team of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Gaya district police recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and communication equipment allegedly concealed in a dense forest near the Bihar-Jharkhand border under Dhangain police station area on Wednesday.Senior superintendent of police Sushil Kumar said on Thursday that the seizure was made during a search operation launched on a tip-off along the Tiletaad-Hisir route. The recovered items included a 9mm carbine with two magazines, a country-made rifle, a pistol, two pistol magazines and 92 live cartridges, including 79 rounds of 9mm and 13 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. A walkie-talkie set was also recovered.Police suspect that the weapons may have been concealed by people linked to Maoist activities in the area, though officials said a Maoist connection has not yet been established.Investigators are trying to ascertain who concealed the arms, when they were brought to the forest and whether they were intended for use in any criminal or Maoist-related activity.A case has been registered at Dhangain police station, while security forces have intensified search operations in the forest belt bordering Jharkhand, the SSP said.
