T’puram: The 70-sovereign gold pawn fraud case in the state capital took a turn for the worse when one more woman, who had attempted suicide, breathed her last on Monday. Aishwarya (32) of Venganoor, an employee of a private gold loan firm, succumbed while undergoing treatment at medical college hospital.Her colleague Anju (28), who consumed poison along with her at a juice shop in Vizhinjam on June 30, had died a day earlier. The body has been handed over to the relatives after autopsy.Earlier, police arrested Sindhu Kumari (53) of Panangode, on charges of cheating the women by collecting gold ornaments and failing to return them.According to police, Anju’s suicide note alleged that Sindhu had taken the gold on the promise of returning it but later claimed it had been sold. Police also said Anju had allegedly entrusted about 20 sovereigns of gold to the accused. Aishwarya had allegedly handed over around 50 sovereigns of gold.Vizhinjam police are continuing the probe.
