Prayagraj: To ensure maximum enrolment of students in the schools run by the Basic Education department for 2026-27 academic session, the second phase of the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ was launched on Wednesday at Composite School Naya Katra II.Basic Shiksha Adhikari (Prayagraj) Anil Kumar presented a detailed overview of the implementation of the key departmental schemes and the preparations made for the second phase of the campaign.The event also showcased a highly positive and unique transformation in the schools equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, smart classrooms, and excellent resources—making them the best choice for quality education.District magistrate (Prayagraj) Manish Kumar Verma also emphasised the importance of education, noting that it forms the cornerstone of an empowered society and a developed nation. He called for an active cooperation from everyone to make the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ successful, stating that it’s not merely an event but a mass movement to connect every child with education. He urged parents to send their children to school regularly so that, through education, they could contribute to building an empowered and developed society. He also stressed the need to raise awareness among children and citizens regarding protection against communicable diseases and heatwaves.Officials said that providing quality education to every child is their top priority. They urged all village heads (gram pradhans), school management committees, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, teachers, socially conscious citizens, and parents – under the leadership of the DM – to identify children in their vicinity who are not yet enrolled in school or have dropped out. Officials also called upon them to make efforts to bring these children back into the school system and ensure regular attendance.During the event, children who had recorded the highest attendance over the past year were rewarded with books and stationery to encourage them. Headmasters of schools that achieved the highest enrolment during the first phase of the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ in the current academic session were honoured. Newly enrolled students were welcomed with garlands and ‘tilak’ and were provided with free textbooks and stationery.The DM also flagged off the rally and publicity vehicle for the second phase of the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’. Saplings were also planted with the aim of keeping the school campus green and eco-friendly.
