Mumbai: Faced with multiple complaints about the arduous search for names on the state’s SIR draft list, the state electoral office has simplified the process to include search by name, mobile number and elector’s photo identity card (EPIC) number, among other options.Citizens need to access the draft list on the website https://ceoelection.maharashtra.gov.in/ceo/, then click on ‘Search your name in Draft Eroll of SIR 2026’, after which they have to click on one of three options. The first option is to search by EPIC number. The second is to search by personal details, including state, name, relative’s name, age or date of birth, gender, district and constituency. The third is to search by mobile number, where one has to enter the state and mobile number.Several Mumbaikars had complained that they were unable to locate their names on the draft electoral roll released by the Election Commission on Monday in the wake of the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise in Maharashtra. Around 35% voters, or about 35 lakh people, were dropped in Mumbai. Before now, electors could search by either EPIC number or polling booth. On the first day, many were still grappling with the format. “There are 50 to 60 PDF files to go through and thousands of names. Is there a simpler way?” a voter said.In the state, around two crore voters have been excluded from the draft list because their enumeration forms could not be collected and are on the ASDD (absent, shifted, dead, duplicate) list. However, they can apply to be on the SIR list after filling out Form 6 within a month, that is, till September 30.If your name is not on the draft list, you can search for it on the website. First enter ‘ASDD List (absent, shifted, dead, duplicate) SIR 2026’, ten search by EPIC number and download polling station-wise ASDD List.Eligible voters whose names have not been included on the draft roll and new voters who turn 18 before October 1, 2026, can apply to be on the SIR electoral roll by filling out Form 6 and submitting the required documents. They can do this online through the ECI website (https//voters.eci.gov.in) and at the electoral registration office in their constituency. They can also approach their booth level officer (BLO) or a political party’s booth level agent (BLA). The form will be scrutinised by the electoral registration officer before inclusion in the voter list. The draft SIR list is available at several other locations, including the ECI website and district election offices, and with political party representatives at the district level.
