Daltonganj: A surprise inspection of the prisoner ward at Latehar sadar hospital by SDPO Sandip Kumar Gupta late Friday revealed that male and female jail inmates undergoing treatment in the hospital are being accommodated in the same two-bed room.Gupta said, “It becomes problematic if and when both male and female inmates are brought together for treatment under judicial orders.”A female inmate was shifted to a nearby room. Hospital authorities agreed to allot a separate seven-bed room for male inmates, the SDPO said.Hospital officials, including deputy superintendent Dr Anjana and medical officer Dr AK Sharan hospital manager, refused to comment about facilities available in the ward, including drinking water, electricity, toilets, and CCTV surveillance.Latehar deputy commissioner Sandip Kumar said, “I have also received complaints regarding the functioning of one of the doctors posted there. The issues would be looked into.”
