Madikeri: An undertrial prisoner injured in a scuffle at the district prison in Madikeri succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Hemanth, 25, a resident of T Shettigeri, who was injured in the scuffle, died at KR Hospital in Mysuru on Tuesday night, authorities said on Wednesday.He was injured on Monday morning after he was attacked with a knife, allegedly by another prisoner, Rajesh, 46, at the District Prison. While he was treated at the district hospital in Madikeri and later shifted to Mysuru, he succumbed to injuries on Tuesday night. He was in jail in connection with a civil case registered at T Shettigeri police station. His family, including his father and brother, are also jailed in the case and lodged at the District Prison from May this year, authorities said.Rajesh has been in jail since 2024 in an attempt-to-murder case.
