Mohali: A young man riding a scooter died in a road accident after being hit by a speeding Thar in the Sohana police station area on Monday. The accused driver fled from the scene and remains at large.The deceased has been identified as Rohit, a resident of Kharar, who was employed with a private company.According to information, the incident occurred when Rohit was on his way to work. As he reached the road connecting Sector 82 to Lakhanour village, a speeding Thar rammed into his scooter. The impact was severe, leaving him with critical head injuries and multiple fractures. He died on the spot.Eyewitnesses said the collision was loud and forceful, throwing Rohit several metres away. Locals rushed to help, but he had already succumbed to his injuries.In his complaint to the police, Rohit’s brother Gaurav Sood said he received a call from an unknown person using Rohit’s phone, informing him about the accident. He immediately reached the spot and found Rohit lying near his damaged scooter in front of a roadside petrol pump, with grievous injuries.Following the complaint, the police have registered a case against the unidentified Thar driver. Efforts are underway to trace the accused, with CCTV footage from nearby areas being examined to establish the identity of the vehicle and its driver.Police officials said the accused will be arrested soon.
