Bengaluru: A 12-year-old boy on his way to tuition class was allegedly attacked by two scooter-borne miscreants armed with a knife on HAL Hospital Road. The Class 6 student of a private school suffered injuries to his hand before the assailants fled the scene, leaving police baffled over the motive.According to the complaint filed by the boy’s mother, Avinash (name changed) was walking with his cousin and a friend when two men on a scooter allegedly began following them. The duo stopped their vehicle near the boys at Kaveri Plantation on HAL Hospital Road. They pushed Avinash from behind, making him fall to the ground. He got up and confronted the duo, asking why they had pushed him.. The duo immediately pulled out a knife and targeted Avinash’s right hand twice, once on the fingers and the second time above the wrist.When the boy’s cousin and friend raised an alarm, the two assailants fled the scene before passers-by could gather.The boy’s mother, who works as a housekeeper at an apartment, said: “The attackers appeared to be in their 20s. They were wearing helmets and masks. My son had not been involved in any quarrel at school, so we don’t know who attacked him or why.”The boy underwent treatment at a private hospital and is recovering. The family has been residing in Jagadish Nagar. The boy’s father is an autorickshaw driver.A police officer said CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the assailants. A case has been registered under Section 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
