Patna: A 48-year-old govt schoolteacher was shot and injured by two bike-borne criminals during a mobile snatching attempt on Wednesday morning in the Agamkuan police station area of Patna. The incident occurred at 4.30am near a private school at Bhagwat Nagar Chowk.The victim, Shambhu Kumar, who teaches at a govt school in Chandi, was on his way to work when the attack took place. He was walking towards Zero Mile along with another teacher, Veena Kumari, when the criminals attempted to snatch his cellphone. When he resisted, one of the assailants fired at him, hitting him in the shoulder. The accused escaped after firing. Shambhu was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.Patna City SDPO I Raj Kishore Singh said CCTV footage from the area shows two criminals involved in the incident. “Prima facie, the case appears to be a robbery. The criminals attempted to snatch the teacher’s bag and cellphone and when he resisted, he was shot,” he said, adding that preliminary investigation suggests that the accused are locals from the Bhagwat Nagar area. “We are analysing CCTV footage to identify the accused and raiding possible hideouts to nab the culprits at the earliest,” Singh said.
