Gurgaon: Haryana’s education department will classify schools into three categories based on their board exam results under the Mission Success programme, which aims to improve pass percentages in Classes 10 and 12. The initiative will focus on identifying academic weaknesses, providing targeted support to struggling students, and encouraging schools with better results to share effective teaching practices.Schools recording pass percentages below 50% will fall in the first category and receive intensive monitoring and academic support. Those with pass percentages between 50% and 80% will be placed in the second category, while schools achieving more than 80% will be placed in the third. To identify areas requiring improvement, officials will assess student and teacher attendance, classroom teaching, subject-wise results and the overall academic environment. Based on these assessments, schools will be expected to draw up improvement plans tailored to their needs. The department will prioritise the lowest-performing schools through targeted interventions, including additional classes, remedial teaching, special guidance and extra practice for students struggling academically. The programme will also identify the three weakest-performing schools in each block and prepare specific strategies to improve their results. Teachers will be encouraged to devote more time to classroom instruction and provide students with regular academic support.Schools in the second category will be encouraged to address subject-specific weaknesses and work towards better results, while those in the highest-performing category will be recognised for their achievements and encouraged to share successful teaching methods with other institutions. The department will periodically review schools’ progress through tests, assessments and other performance indicators to evaluate the impact of these measures. The initiative aims to strengthen accountability for academic outcomes while ensuring that schools receive the support they need to improve board examination results.
