Lucknow: With the School Chalo Abhiyan kicking off on April 1, the state govt has asked all basic education officials to integrate ‘dropout’ children into the educational mainstream. As per official data, 1.5 lakh children are currently appearing in U-DISE ‘dropbox’, a feature that manages students who have left a school or whose status is unknown. For this, the basic education department has prepared a module that will display the list of dropout children on the Sharda app form where dropout children can be identified and enrolled in schools.Director General of School Education (DGSE) Monika Rani has asked all basic shiksha adhikari (BSAs) to focus on children from disadvantaged sections, girls, children with special needs, and those from specific geographical regions and communities who are out of school.Rani stated that in previous years, the School Chalo Abhiyan achieved remarkable success in fostering public awareness regarding education. With the new module, dropout children will not only be identified, but BSAs will ensure that the enrolment details for the total number of dropout children are duly registered through the application interface.Rani asked officials to update the status of a child via the Sharda app if he/she is already enrolled in the school. In case a child has passed out of the school and subsequently enrolled in another school, BSAs will update the U-DISE code of that respective school. “This will help ensure no child is left out of school,” she said. The first phase of the School Chalo Abhiyan is scheduled from April 1 to April 15 and the second phase from July 1 to July 15.
