Kolkata: A bomb scare was triggered at Kolkata airport on Friday afternoon after a handwritten note, with the word, ‘BOMB’, was discovered inside the lavatory of an IndiGo flight shortly after passengers disembarked, prompting an emergency security response and a police investigation.According to officials, the incident occurred on March 20 during post-landing checks of flight 6E-275 (CCU–Imphal). The note, written on a piece of tissue paper, was found in the front lavatory by the lead cabin attendant of the flight around 1.50 pm after all passengers had exited the aircraft.The crew immediately alerted the flight supervisor and airport security authorities. A Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was constituted at 2.05 pm to evaluate the threat. After a detailed assessment, the threat was classified as “specific” around 2.25 pm, triggering heightened security protocols. Airport authorities said all standard operating procedures were followed, including thorough checks of the aircraft and surrounding areas. After security clearance, the flight was allowed to depart, officials confirmed.The matter came to light after a senior IndiGo official lodged a formal complaint at the NSCBI Airport Police Station later in the day.
