Vadodara: Anand police said on Saturday that Supreme Court has dismissed a special leave petition filed by former resident additional collector (RAC) of Anand, Ketki Vyas, seeking discharge from the criminal case registered against her, and set aside the interim relief granted earlier.The order, passed on Sept 24, means that regular trial proceedings against Vyas and two other accused can now proceed before the trial court, Anand police said in a statement.The case was registered at Anand Town police station in Aug 2023 against Vyas, then posted as RAC at the Anand collectorate, along with then deputy mamlatdar Jayesh Patel and advocate Harish Chavda.According to case details, the accused allegedly installed a spy camera at the collectorate and made an objectionable video of the collector, allegedly to threaten and pressure him into approving files related to disputed land. The accused were also alleged to have conspired to implicate the collector in a rape case.They were booked under IPC Sections 389, 354-C and 120-B and Sections 66-E and 67-A of the IT Act.The Anand Local Crime Branch investigated the case and filed a chargesheet against all three accused.Vyas had sought discharge from the case before the trial court and subsequently the sessions court, but both applications were rejected.She then approached the Gujarat High Court and later the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had initially granted interim relief against the trial proceedings.On Sept 24, the apex court disposed of her petition and vacated the interim relief following submissions, including those made on behalf of the state govt and the investigating officer of the Anand LCB.
