The Supreme Court has sought responses from the Centre and Delhi Police on a plea challenging the de-notification of Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site.
The plea comes after Delhi Police de-notified Jantar Mantar as a designated venue for protests and demonstrations through a standing order issued on October 11. The order designated Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi as alternative protest sites.

The petition challenges the restrictions on protests at Jantar Mantar and raises concerns about the suitability of the newly designated locations. It also refers to the Supreme Court’s earlier recognition of Jantar Mantar as a designated protest venue.
