Prayagraj: Empowerment must not be limited to women alone; educating our boys with the right values is equally crucial to building a just society and reducing crime against women, said the eminent judge of the apex court and an alumni of Allahabad University, Justice Pankaj Mithal in an inspiring interaction with the students of Dr Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj. Justice Mithal also offered a nuanced perspective on the pressing issue of judicial pendency. He emphasised that while judges are constantly working, delays also stem from systemic factors involving litigants and procedural complexities. He underscored that the goal cannot simply be the disposal of cases but the delivery of quality judgments that uphold justice.While interacting with the students under the initiative titled ‘Beyond Judgments’, Justice Mithal shared that legal profession is an endeavour, which demands dedication and commitment. Interacting with students Justice Mithal spoke about the growing role of technology in judicial processes, advocating for hybrid approach that embraces both virtual and in-person proceedings without compromising access or fairness. Highlighting the personal side of judges, he noted how individual habits and values shape their judicial outlook. A keen reader of hindi literature, Justice Mithal emphasised the importance of moral values in shaping the next generation of nation-builders. He urged students to view legal education not merely as a career path to earn more but as a platform to contribute meaningfully to society.
