Ranchi: Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Saturday said management education must go beyond boardrooms and balance sheets and engage with society, address real-world challenges and contribute to inclusive growth.Speaking at the 15th convocation of the Indian Institute of Management-Ranchi (IIM-R) he said, “Hard work, sincerity and devotion may not bring results in the expected way tomorrow, but I am sure that when it comes it would be more than expectation.”As many as 558 students received their degrees in this year’s convocation. This includes 26 PhD degrees, 11 PhD (Executive) degrees, and graduates from various programmes from batch 2024-26 – MBA (251), MBA HRM (62), MBA BA (50), MBA (Executive) (50), IPM (BBA+MBA) batch 2021-26 (73 students), and IPM (BBA) batch 2022-25 (35 students).The VP urged the students to stay away from drugs and also not allow their friends and relatives consume them adding it could destroy a person’s life.Radhakrishnan said Jharkhand brought good luck for him and President Droupadi Murmu as both of them were elevated to the top constitutional posts of the country after serving as governors of the state. He said, “Students should always remember that the true measure of success lies not in what one accumulates, but in what one gives back to society.”Notably, Radhakrishnan served as Jharkhand’s governor from February 2023 to July 2024 before being appointed as Maharashtra governor.The VP also urged the state urban development minister Sudivya Kumar to build an elevated approach road to IIM-R while stating that present road was in improper shape.Jharkhand governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, deputy chairman Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Union minister of state for defence Sanjay Seth were present on the occasion.Radhakrishnan visited Ulihatu in Khunti district, the birthplace of tribal icon Birsa Munda, and paid tributes to the freedom fighter. Radhakrishnan fondly recalled his visit to Ulihatu on the very first day being sworn in as governor, and interacted with Birsa’s descendents.
