Nagpur: A male lion named ‘Bharat’ from Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali (East), was transferred to the Wildlife Rescue Centre at Gorewada, Nagpur, on Saturday for specialised medical care.The transfer was carried out on the recommendation of the veterinary committee at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, with orders from the Chief Wildlife Warden and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Maharashtra.Upon arrival at the rescue centre, the lion underwent a preliminary examination by the centre’s veterinary officers. Further treatment and care will be administered based on the assessment, officials said.Staff and officers of the Gorewada Project, Nagpur, were present on the occasion.
