Patna: A 27-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances under Digha police station area of Patna on Thursday morning. His body was recovered from roadside near a railway office. The deceased was identified as Golu Kumar alias Sonu, a resident of Samastipur district.According to his elder brother, Sachin Kumar, Sonu had been staying at his in-laws’ house for the past one-and-a-half months. Sachin alleged that around 12.30am, Sonu called him from a relative’s cellphone and claimed that his in-laws were assaulting him. He also alleged that Sonu told him that his cellphone had been thrown into a nearby well.Sachin further alleged that around 5am, he received a call from Sonu’s father-in-law informing him that Sonu had hanged himself. He rushed to Patna after receiving the information.On receiving information about the incident, Digha police station SHO Avnish Kumar and a police team reached the spot. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was also called to examine the spot and collect evidence.Police said the body has been sent for postmortem and that the exact cause of death will be known only after the medical and forensic reports are received. “Police are investigating all aspects of the case. The allegations made by the family are also being examined,” the SHO said.Family members said Sonu worked as a furniture dealer, but his business had not been doing well. They claimed that his father-in-law had subsequently asked him to work as an e-rickshaw driver.
