On April 1, Samantha shared a video on Instagram outlining her strategy for a ‘power morning’ to help stabilise the nervous system and enhance physical health.

The actor also highlighted the 8 habits she follows in the first few hours after waking up to reduce inflammation and improve the body’s ability to repair itself. She noted that these lifestyle changes serve as a comprehensive reset for anyone feeling physically or mentally stagnant.

Samantha’s morning routine

Samantha noted that she has always believed that if you get your morning right, it just sets the tone for everything that follows. She added, “If you’ve been doing everything right and the belly fat does not go, and the skin is acting up, you wake up puffy, maybe it’s time to look at your morning routine.

The actor noted that when you wake up, your stress hormone is naturally high. Though this is normal, what you do next is really important. Therefore, if you end up reaching for your phone, news, work, and emails, you double that stress. She stressed, “Even before the day has begun, your brain is looking for your next dopamine hit, which is the reason why you can’t concentrate, or you find it difficult to concentrate for the rest of the day.

The 8 habits Samantha follows in the morning

The actor suggested some simple, clear actions that have helped her. She advised trying them for 21 days to see if they calm the nervous system and help you reduce inflammation.

Here’s how you should start your day:

  1. Rule number one: no phone for the first hour.
  2. Five minutes of deep, intentional breathing in silence. “Slow breathing activates your vagus nerve, telling your brain you’re safe, and a safe brain burns fat and repairs better than a stressed one,” Samantha explained.
  3. Get sunlight on your face within 10 minutes of waking.
  4. Have an easy but super effective morning elixir: warm water with lemon, turmeric, apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper (if you like), and a dash of organic olive oil.
  5. Have a balanced breakfast that keeps your blood sugar stable so you don’t reach for sugary snacks the rest of the day.
  6. Move your body before 11:00 am.
  7. Have your coffee or tea after breakfast.
  8. Lastly, decide what you will conquer that day. Even if it’s something small, think about it with intention. Write it down. Because if your brain is working hard for that dopamine hit, it’s not looking to chase instant gratification through the day.
