More than three decades after its release, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan’s ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ continues to enjoy a strong fan following. Although the film did not make a major impact at the box office when it arrived in 1994, its quirky humour, memorable characters, songs and dialogues have helped it attain cult status over the years.With fans frequently speculating about a possible follow-up to the comedy, director Rajkumar Santoshi has now clarified that his upcoming project is not a sequel to the much-loved film.In a conversation with IANS, Santoshi revealed that he is working on a new film titled ‘Adaa Apni Apni’. While the upcoming project will share the comedic and musical flavour of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, the filmmaker stressed that it will tell an entirely different story.
The new film will have a different story and characters
The filmmaker explained that he does not believe in revisiting his films through direct sequels. Instead, ‘Adaa Apni Apni’ will explore a similar genre while introducing a fresh narrative and new character journeys.“I do not make sequels. ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ has already been made. I am making another film in the same genre, of the same type – comedy, adventure. It is named ‘Adaa Apni Apni’. It will have more or less the same type of music, the same type of comedy, but the story is different; the journey is different.”The filmmaker also believes that audiences who have grown up watching ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ will find something familiar in the upcoming project while experiencing a completely new story.“This movie will be a great gift for all the fans of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’,” he went on to add.
Rajkumar Santoshi is keeping the cast under wraps
While the announcement has already sparked curiosity among fans of the 1994 comedy, Santoshi is not ready to reveal who will headline ‘Adaa Apni Apni’.When asked about the casting of the upcoming film, the director indicated that it was still too early to share details.
