Salem: A 40-year-old man died by suicide on an agricultural land at Kolathur in Dharmapuri district on Wednesday, after losing Rs 35 lakh in online trading.The deceased has been identified as K Narayanan of Pennagaram. Narayanan was running a shop in the area and is survived by his wife, Tamil, 32, a 13-year-old daughter, and a six-year-old son. Police said Tamil tried to contact Narayanan over the phone on Wednesday evening as he didn’t return home from his shop at usual time. The family and Narayanan’s friend Vadivel launched a search for him. Vadivel found his friend dead on an agricultural land at Kolathur around 10.30pm. “Narayanan had consumed poison,” a police officer said.Police recovered the body and sent it to the Mettur govt hospital for a postmortem. A case was registered.
