COIMBATORE: Coimbatore district collector Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar has declared a ‘dry day’ in the district on Monday (May 4) in view of the assembly election vote counting. Accordingly, all licensed liquor premises, ranging from FL1 to FL11, must remain closed for the entire duration of the counting day. The collector issued a stern warning that any violation of these rules, including illegal sale of liquor, hoarding stocks, or unauthorised transport of alcohol, will result in strict legal action. These measures have been implemented to maintain public order and ensure a peaceful atmosphere during the announcement of election results.
