Times News NetworkKanpur: A monthly crime review meeting was held in the Police Commissioner office under the chairmanship of Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal, on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by senior police officers and officers of RTO excise and fire departments.In view of the upcoming academic session, the police commissioner directed all police stations in-charges that the safety of girl students should remain the topmost priority when schools and colleges open. To prevent eve-teasing, harassment, and other anti-social activities, the activeness of Anti-Romeo teams should be increased and regular patrolling should be conducted at sensitive places.Mentioning the complaints of public representatives creating disturbance by consuming liquor at public places, directions were given that all police station in-charges should ensure that liquor shops operate only according to the prescribed hours. If any kind of illegal activity is found, the responsibility of the concerned station in-charge will be fixed.During the meeting, special emphasis was laid on the effective and regular implementation of the Yaksh App. The Police Commissioner said that verification of criminals, preparation of dossiers, and timely entry of beat-related information should be ensured at all police stations. Those stations where beat information entries are low, particularly Reuna, Harbansh Mohal, Nazirabad, and Raipurwa, and other stations, were directed to make improvements in this regard.While reviewing the cases registered under the Gangsters Act, directions were given that, as per the rules, investigation should be completed and chargesheets filed within six months.The Fire Department informed that regular inspection of various establishments and institutions is being conducted. A three-day fire safety campaign was run and training was also provided on practical measures to be adopted for protection from fire and during disasters. On this, the Police Commissioner directed that institutions where fire safety deficiencies are found should be given notices for improvement along with a fixed time. If improvement is not made within the time limit, action should be ensured as per the rules.While reviewing cybercrimes, the Police Commissioner said that FIRs should be registered on time in every eligible case, and in cases of cyber fraud, effective action should be taken to freeze the concerned amount in bank accounts as well as to promptly return the amount to the victims.
