Pune: Sadhu Vaswani Mission has taken a cue from bhajan raves, devotional concerts and community singing finding favour with younger audiences across India and organised a kirtan jamming session as it celebrates Dada JP Vaswani’s 108th birth anniversary on Friday. The mission will host Delhi-based musician Ankit Batra’s interactive kirtan jamming programme to be followed by a talk by Didi Krishna — signalling a conscious effort to engage youngsters in a language they understand best. The format reflects a broader evolution and cultural shift in the way spiritual organisations are reaching out to younger generations. Kirtan jamming, where devotional singing becomes participatory rather than performative, offers the youth a space for reflection in an age dominated by constant digital stimulation.Member Jogen Jethani said the format is appealing. “Life moves fast, our minds even faster. That’s why kirtan jamming feels so refreshing. It lets you sing, smile and simply be in the moment. I am excited to experience Batra live, followed by Didi Krishna’s talk on Master Your Mind,” he said. The event is also drawing young followers from outside Pune. Khushi Khilnani has travelled from Bengaluru to attend the celebrations. “I have come from Bengaluru to romanticise the core memory and heal my inner child. I’m ready to vibe with Batra’s live kirtans and rely on beloved Didi Krishna’s wisdom on Master Your Mind because my attention span is hanging on by a thread currently,” she said.Anjulika Israni, another young member, said, “The evening will have a strong meditative element thanks to Batra’s kirtan. It is a call to stop, reflect and live more mindfully during a time of perpetual distraction. I eagerly await Didi Krishna’s thoughts on conquering the mind as the foundation of inner liberation, discipline and clarity.”As spirituality finds new expressions among the younger generations, the Sadhu Vaswani Mission’s event demonstrates how time honoured teachings can be presented through formats that encourage participation, introspection and connection.
