The Ruby Mills Limited on Tuesday said operations at one department of its Dhamni Weaving Division have been disrupted after a section of workmen abstained from reporting for duty amid an ongoing wage settlement process.
“The Company has initiated appropriate legal and administrative proceedings before the competent authorities and is in continuous coordination with the labour authorities, local police authorities and other concerned authorities to maintain peace and facilitate restoration of normalcy,” Ruby Mills said in an exchange filing.
In a stock exchange filing under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, the textile maker said the work stoppage began on June 29, when certain workmen assembled at the factory gate but did not enter the premises or resume work, despite a draft wage settlement having been circulated for execution following negotiations.
The company said the disruption is confined to one department at its Dhamni unit in Raigad district, Maharashtra, and that its other manufacturing operations, including the spinning and processing divisions, continue to function normally and remain unaffected.
Ruby Mills added that the dispute is presently under conciliation before the Assistant Labour Officer. The company said it has initiated appropriate legal and administrative proceedings and is coordinating with labour authorities, local police and other concerned agencies to maintain peace and facilitate an early restoration of normalcy.
“At this early stage, the financial and operational impact is being assessed,” the company said, adding that it does not expect any material loss arising from the work stoppage. It also clarified that the disruption is not covered under any insurance policy.
