Nagpur: RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat is set to visit United States, Canada and Britain as part of the Sangh organisation’s centenary-year global outreach, with the organisation saying the tour will seek to counter what it describes as misconceptions about India, Hindu society and RSS and deepen engagement with Hindu and Indian-origin communities. The proposed overseas outreach was discussed at three-day Akhil Bharatiya Samanvay Baithak of 32 RSS-inspired organisations, which concluded in Visakhapatnam on Friday.RSS Sah Sarkaryavah CR Mukunda said Bhagwat’s visit would have three broad objectives: presenting what RSS considers a ‘fact-based and positive perspective’ on India and Hindu society, taking message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and universal oneness to societies abroad, and strengthening dialogue on interests, rights of Hindus and people of Indian origin.Bhagwat is scheduled to participate in a Universal Oneness programme in New York and community leadership programmes in Toronto and London, Mukunda said.As per RSS functionaries, the visit comes as RSS marks its centenary year, giving the proposed tour a wider international dimension beyond the organisation’s domestic activities. The outreach is intended to establish greater dialogue with mainstream communities in the three countries, particularly on issues concerning Hindus and the Indian diaspora.Explaining rationale for the tour, Mukunda said the first objective was to address what RSS sees as misinformation and misconceptions surrounding ‘Bharat, Hindu society and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.’The second objective, he said, was to convey Indian civilisational idea of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, or concept of world as one family, to wider international audiences. The third was to facilitate dialogue with mainstream society in the US, Canada and Britain on interests and rights of Hindus and people of Indian origin living there. The announcement came as the coordination meeting reviewed RSS’s work across social, cultural, economic and other fields and considered plans for expanding the activities of its affiliated organisations during the coming year.
