Patna: Senior RSS functionary Nagendra Nath Tripathi was on Monday appointed as the BJP’s national organiser, Rashtriya Sangathak (Vishishth Karyakarta Sampark), by the party president Nitin Nabin.Tripathi has been serving as the BJP’s regional general secretary (organisation), Bihar and Jharkhand, since 2021.“National president of the BJP, Nitin Nabin, appointed Nagendra Nath Tripathi as the party’s Rashtriya Sangathak (Vishishth Karyakarta Sampark),” BJP national general secretary (organisation) Arun Singh said in a notification on Monday. “Tripathi’s centre will be Delhi,” the notification said.Known widely within political circles as “Nagendra Ji”, Tripathi acts as a key bridge between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP. Before taking up the charge of regional general secretary in 2021, Tripathi spent a decade in Bihar as the BJP’s general secretary (organisation), building and cementing the party’s foundational structure in the state. He served as the BJP’s general secretary (organisation) in Bihar from 2011 to 2021.Hailing Tripathi’s elevation at national level, BJP’s senior functionary Nikhil Anand said, “Nagendra Ji is highly regarded as a key strategist behind the formation and continuity of the BJP-JD(U) ‘double-engine’ govt in Bihar. He worked in close coordination with senior JD(U) leadership to smooth internal friction and bridge communication gaps with central leadership.”Before moving to Bihar, Tripathi served for eight years (2003-2011) as the BJP’s general secretary (organisation) in Uttar Pradesh, orchestrating grassroots strategies across the state. Prior to 2003, he served in the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in different capacities for many years.Born on Jan 4, 1955, into a farming family in Belauli village, located in Sant Kabir Nagar district (formerly part of Basti) of Uttar Pradesh, Tripathi joined the local RSS shakha as a Swayamsevak during his school days in Basti district.He later progressed to become a full-time Pracharak (campaigner), committing his life to organisational work and community development.
