Lucknow: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat will arrive in Lucknow on a 2-day visit on Tuesday as part of the organisation’s centenary year outreach programmes.Bhagwat is scheduled to participate in four key meetings aimed at strengthening organisational outreach and social engagement. These include a Kutumb Milan (family gathering), a Samajik Sadbhav Baithak (social harmony meeting), an interaction with youth, and a Prabuddhjan Goshti (intellectuals’ conclave). The programmes are being organised by the RSS Lucknow Mahanagar unit, the organisation said. The visit is part of the broader centenary year initiatives under which the RSS chief is undertaking regional and provincial tours to engage directly with swayamsevaks and members of society. The RSS chief is holding dialogues across different regions to expand the organisation’s connect at the grassroots and reinforce its ideological and social messaging.Sources said that a host of senior functionaries of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may also meet the RSS chief during his visit, though no official schedule of such meetings was released. Given the close ideological relationship between the RSS and the BJP, the visit drew political attention in the state. While the RSS maintains that the centenary programmes are organisational and social in nature, Bhagwat’s interactions in UP — a politically crucial state — are likely to be closely watched in the run-up to major electoral developments.
