New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday said the RSS cannot distance itself from the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ayodhya Ram temple merely by expressing grief over the incident, arguing that key functionaries of the Ram temple trust are associated with the Sangh.

The party also questioned why RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, while expressing concern over the issue on Friday, did not demand FIRs against trust functionaries Champat Rai, Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao.

“Expressing grief over the theft of offerings at the Ram temple cannot absolve RSS of this grave sin,” said Aradhana Mishra, leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Uttar Pradesh.

“RSS, which is trying to distance itself from this theft, should explain whether it is not a fact that the key persons in the Ram temple trust, Champat Rai, Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao, are associated with the RSS.”
