Nagpur: The state govt has sanctioned around Rs1.5 crore for the conservation and repair of three state-protected monuments in Ramtek taluka of Nagpur district, all of which are part of the larger Lord Ram temple complex, popularly known as the Gad Mandir Complex. The move is aimed at preserving key heritage structures within one of the region’s prominent religious and historical sites. The sanctioned works cover Rudra Narasimha Temple, Bhairav Darwaza and Keval Narasimha Temple with Rudra Temple has been allotted Rs43.37 lakh, while Bhairav Darwaza will receive Rs44.28 lakh. Keval Narasimha Temple has been granted a higher allocation of Rs63.29 lakh, taking the total outlay to around Rs1.5 crore. All three structures are located within the complex premises, which in total has seven such heritage structures, including the main Gad Mandir Ramtek, which holds religious significance and attracts a steady inflow of devotees and visitors. Officials indicated that the conservation effort will focus on structural repairs, restoration of damaged portions and measures to ensure long-term preservation of the monuments in line with heritage conservation norms. The Directorate of Archaeology and Museums has been designated as the executing authority for the projects. The department will oversee the technical aspects, ensure adherence to conservation guidelines and monitor the progress of the works.The initiative forms part of the state’s broader heritage conservation programme under which several historically significant sites are being taken up for restoration.
