Kolkata: Five Rajya Sabha candidates — four from Trinamool Congress and one from BJP — were elected uncontested from Bengal on Monday. Their terms begin in early April.TMC candidates Rajeev Kumar, Babul Supriyo and Koel Mallick, and BJP’s Rahul Sinha received their certificates from the assembly secretary on Monday. As TMC’s Maneka Guruswamy was not in Kolkata, power minister Aroop Biswas received the victory certificate on her behalf.On April 2, the terms of TMC MPs Subrata Bakshi, Saket Gokhale and Ritabrata Banerjee, along with CPM MP Bikash Bhattacharya, will end. TMC MP Mausam Noor had resigned from the Rajya Sabha in Jan after joining the Congress.
