Pune: Four persons were booked for allegedly duping six aspirants of Rs67 lakh in exchange for securing them jobs with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).A 22-year-old man from Nandoshi village in the Khadakwasla area lodged a complaint with Sinhagad Road police. Based on his complaint, a case has been registered against the four accused under Sections 316 (criminal breach of trust), 318 (cheating), 337 (forgery), 338 (forgery of valuable security), and 340 (forged document or electronic record and using it as genuine) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).A police officer said, “The suspect had approached the complainant around two years ago and promised to secure him a job with the PMC as a peon, supervisor or security personnel. They allegedly collected Rs67 lakh from the complainant and other five job aspirants between 2024 and June 2026, assuring them of jobs with the civic body.”Allegedly, the suspects also gave the aspirants joining letters and identity cards bearing fake stamps of PMC officials. When the complainant and others approached PMC, they found the documents were fake. “When the complainant questioned them, they avoided him and gave him evasive replies. Realising they had been cheated, the complainant and others approached the police. Our investigation is underway,” the officer added.
