Bengaluru: Thieves made away with cash from a temple hundi at Mallathahalli, northeast Bengaluru, and from a neighbouring grocery shop, causing a total loss of around Rs 55,000.Sashikala, who worships at Angala Parameshwari Temple daily, told police the burglary took place in the early hours of July 28. After completing rituals around 10pm on July 27, she closed the temple and left the locked money box outside. Around 2.30am, she heard dogs barking loudly. Suspecting something was amiss, Sashikala came out of her house to find three miscreants standing near the temple with a two-wheeler. As soon as she shouted at them, the trio fled.She inspected the temple premises and found the hundi lock had been broken open and over Rs 40,000 stolen. The burglars also targeted the adjacent Subbu Rice Corner, owned by Shankaraiah, where they broke the shop’s lock and stole Rs 15,000 from a drawer.
