Aizawl: Mizoram Police officials have seized drugs worth over Rs 25.01 crore during the last seven days at different locations in the state and arrested eight people, including two Myanmarese and four persons from Manipur. The police have also seized a US-made handgun along with two magazines and 40 live rounds of ammunition.Aizawl district police special branch officials on Tuesday night seized 104 grams of heroin at Zemabawk area in northern outskirts of Aizawl from the alleged possession of Thanglianmung (26) and Manglianthang (23), both residents of Thinglei village of Myanmar. The value of the seized heroin is estimated at Rs 20.4 lakh.On Sunday, police officials of Saitual district, bordering Manipur, seized 242.79 grams of heroin valued approximately Rs 48.55 lakh at the outskirts of Keifang town from the alleged possession of Md Eliyach Hussain (46) of Barpeta district in Assam. The Saitual district police officials also seized 1.927kg of heroin valued at approximately Rs 3.86 crores at Keifang town on Saturday. Mangminlun (26) and Ginlemlal (24) of Churachandpur district in Manipur were arrested.Saitual district police again intercepted a vehicle coming from Manipur and proceeding towards Aizawl at the wee hours of Friday and seized 2.298kg of heroin valued at Rs 4.596 crore from Zamchinlam (27) and Dothanglen (Lelen) (36) of Churachandpur district.On Wednesday morning, Mizoram Police’s CID (SB) Operation Team seized 19.836kg of methamphetamine tablets (yaba), valued at Rs 15.86 crore at Tuirial hamlet near Aizawl and arrested Lalhnehzova (23) of Zokhawthar village in Champhai district bordering Myanmar.
