Aizawl: A health centre was inaugurated on Friday at Zochachhuah in Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district.The facility, located along the highway being built under the Kaladan Multi Modal Transit Transport Project (KMMTTP), was constructed by IRCON International Ltd. under its corporate social responsibility initiative at a cost of Rs 25 lakh.Lawngtlai deputy commissioner Donny Lalruatsanga inaugurated the centre in the presence of Sanjay AK Tripathi, project head, Myanmar branch, IRCON International Ltd, and other officials.Lalruatsanga said the facility would benefit residents of Zochachhuah and neighbouring villages, as well as travellers using the KMMTTP highway.He appreciated IRCON for addressing the healthcare needs of people in the border area and urged other companies operating in Lawngtlai district to undertake similar CSR initiatives.The deputy commissioner said Zochachhuah was expected to emerge as a major centre of trade and commerce with Myanmar. With a large number of vehicles likely to use the route, he said, the health centre would be particularly important. He also called for the early posting of healthcare personnel at the facility and urged the concerned departments to extend support to make it functional at the earliest.Tripathi expressed hope that more meaningful CSR initiatives would be undertaken in the future. He handed over the key to the health centre to Lalruatsanga.The facility comprises a labour room, a patient registration room and a doctor’s room.
