Belagavi: Offerings worth Rs 11.1 crore were collected in six rounds of hundi (donation box) counting at the Yellamma Devi Temple atop Yellammanagudda in Savadatti taluk since July 2025.According to the temple authorities, the collection includes Rs 9.9 crore in cash, 635 grams of gold ornaments valued at Rs 74.9 lakh, and 21.2 kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 38.6 lakh.The temple is among the top 10 highest-donation-earning temples in the state and attracts lakhs of devotees from across the country. After fulfilling their wishes, devotees express their faith in the deity Yellamma by offering cash or gold and silver ornaments to the temple hundi.The counting of the offerings was carried out recently by officials and staff from the muzrai department, the Belagavi DC’s office, the tahsildar’s office, the temple administration, and the bank.Speaking to TOI, Nagaratna Cholin, deputy secretary of the Yellamma Temple Development Authority, said the money is deposited in the temple’s bank account after counting.“The funds are utilised for temple development works, payment of staff salaries, electricity bills, and other administrative expenses,” she added.
