Prayagraj/Kanpur: Four Class VII girls from Jajmau in Kanpur, who left their school without informing anyone on Friday afternoon, were rescued by Railway Protection Force personnel from Prayagraj station late at night after extensive CCTV surveillance and a coordinated search operation.CCTV footage showed the four boarding a train. It was later found that they deboarded the Jammu Tawi Express and took the Kalika train towards Prayagraj at 2:26 pm. Officials said Kanpur police alerted the RPF about the missing girls.RPF inspector Amit Kumar Meena said, “We monitored all incoming trains from Kanpur. The girls got down at Fatehpur and later boarded another train for Prayagraj.”Their photographs were circulated among RPF personnel in Prayagraj, and a search was launched across platforms, trains and station premises using CCTV feeds.During surveillance, the girls were spotted on platforms 4 and 5. RPF and Govt Railway Police teams reached the spot and took them into safe custody.The girls were brought to the RPF post under the supervision of the ‘Meri Saheli’ team led by woman constable Priyanka Devi. Jajmau police were informed, and a team led by sub-inspectors Arun Kumar Ojha and Sankalp Pandey reached Prayagraj for verification.Meena said the girls planned to travel to Ujjain after school hours.Police said a missing persons FIR was already registered at Jajmau police station. After completing legal formalities, the girls were handed over to their families.Family members said one of the girls left home carrying Rs 2,500 and clothes, raising suspicion that the group may have planned the move. The mother of one of the girls said her husband dropped their daughter at school at 7:15 am as usual, but when she went to pick her up at 1:30 pm, she already left with the other three.She alleged that despite the practice of handing over students to guardians after school, her daughter managed to leave on her own.
