Pune: Traffic troubles will continue for now for commuters from Talegaon, Chakan and Shikrapur as the state govt on Wednesday informed the legislative council that the construction of the elevated corridor passing through the industrial belt would take at least four years.The issue of long pending work of the road connecting Talegaon-Chakan to the holy town of Dehu and its other section to Khalumbre and Sawardari village in Khed tehsil of Pune came up for discussion in the legislative council. Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Sachin Ahir raised the issue. He demanded the state govt to arrange a meeting of officials concerned and elected representatives from the areas to discuss issues being faced by commuters because of the long pending road work.Responding to Ahir’s question, minister of state for PWD Indranil Naik said the Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur corridor was being developed by Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) and the entire project would be completed in the next four years. “The tender process is under way and the actual work is expected to start in May or June. The elevated road will be completed in four years but the road work below it is expected to be completed in one to two years,” Naik said in the legislative council.He also informed the House that the road from Shikrapur to Chakan would have six lanes. “From Chakan to Talegaon, the road at the ground level will have four lanes. The elevated road will be of six lanes. The govt will organise a meeting between the officials and the elected representatives to address the issues and provide the necessary infrastructure till the time the work of the corridor is in process,” the minister said.
