The measures are intended to improve internal mobility and reduce waterlogging in industrial areas

Panaji: The Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) has intensified infrastructure development and modernisation works across several industrial estates in the state, focusing on road connectivity, drainage, water supply, waste management and civic amenities.The programme covers estates including Verna, Tuem, Kundaim, Madkai, Pilerne, Sancoale, Bicholim, Bethora, Honda, Kakoda, Cuncolim, Canacona, Colvale, Mapusa, Shiroda, Tivim, Panchwadi, Sanguem and Pissurlem, among others.The ongoing works include road upgradation through white topping and hot-mix surfacing, reinstatement of damaged internal roads, construction of roadside and storm-water drains, and strengthening of cross-drainage systems. The measures are intended to improve internal mobility and reduce waterlogging in industrial areas.At Verna Industrial Estate, the corporation is developing roads for newly created plots in Phase IV, extending water distribution pipelines, improving drainage and traffic management systems, and constructing solid waste management facilities. Key roads are also being upgraded through white topping.At Tuem, approach roads and drainage systems are being built for newly approved industrial plots. The works also include solid waste infrastructure, DI water intake lines and underground sumps. Kundaim is undergoing road reinstatement, hot-mix surfacing, drainage and water infrastructure upgrades, along with repairs to pump houses and utility facilities.Madkai is set to receive new drainage networks, asphalted roads, traffic management facilities and a ground level reservoir to strengthen water supply.Road repairs, drainage construction, truck parking, traffic signage, shoulder beautification and replacement of ageing water pipelines are also under way at Bicholim, Bethora, Honda, Kakoda and Pilerne. At Sancoale, works include repairs to underground sumps, concrete drains, compound walls and a proposed police outpost.Goa-IDC chairman Aleixo Reginaldo said the projects aim to create “modern, efficient and future-ready” industrial infrastructure while supporting ease of doing business, employment and economic growth.The corporation is also constructing waste management sheds at Verna, Tuem, Cuncolim and Pissurlem. A working women’s hostel has been proposed at Cuncolim under the ministry of MSME’s SASCI scheme.
