Patna: Railway Board additional member (planning) Neelmani on Thursday launched a voluntary cleanliness and hygiene drive at Patna Junction, urging railway employees and passengers to contribute towards keeping railway stations and their surroundings neat and clean.Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Abhinav Siddarth said the voluntary service will be observed from Oct 1 to 15 as part of the railway’s efforts to promote cleanliness and better hygiene across its premises. Danapur DRM Vinod Kumar, ADRM Birendra Kumar and several other senior railway officials participated in the cleanliness activity at Patna Junction, he said.Speaking on the occasion, Neelmani appealed to railway employees and passengers visiting the station to extend their cooperation in maintaining cleanliness on railway premises. He said that even one hour of voluntary service in their respective localities could make a significant contribution towards keeping the surroundings clean and hygienic.“At a time when there is growing focus across the globe on cleanliness, sanitation and better hygiene, collective efforts by railway employees and passengers could help create cleaner and healthier surroundings,” Danapur DRM said, adding passengers should also cooperate with the railways and avoid littering and dispose of waste at designated places.
