Patna: The RJD, headed by former CM Lalu Prasad, and its allies on Sunday strongly condemned the attack on Iran and demanded that India insist on an immediate cessation of hostilities.Describing the attack aimed at assassinating Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as an assault on humanity, the RJD said thousands of innocent people had lost their lives in the strikes.“With the death of Khamenei, India lost one of its friends,” the RJD said in a post on X on Sunday. It added that wherever the US launched attacks, such as in Iraq, Libya and Syria, those countries and the lives of their citizens were devastated. However, the post drew sharp reactions from social media users. The Congress also condemned the attack and urged the govt of India to help bring an immediate end to the hostilities. “At the same time, the govt of India should take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of millions of Indians living and working in the West Asia region,” senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said in a social media post.“For the past several weeks, President Trump was putting on a show of diplomacy and negotiations with Iran. But at the instigation of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and the pro-war groups within America itself, he now launched a military attack aimed at regime change,” Ramesh added.Demanding that India insist on an immediate cessation of the attack, the CPI-ML called upon all peace-loving people of the country and the world to “stand with Iran and the Iranian people against the US-Israel military aggression.”“The attack came, piercing the façade of US talks of diplomacy. The world also understands that this aggression has nothing to do with the Iranian people’s own struggle against the Iranian govt for justice and liberty,” the CPI-ML central committee said on Sunday.
